Why should Christmas bring me joy?
Escrito por: Bernardo Marulanda

Christmas arrives and moves our lives with its lights, songs, dinners, gifts, messages; It comes and makes us feel different. Sometimes very happy and other times nostalgic. But in the midst of all this, many times we stop going to the essentials and forget the reason for everything: Baby Jesus.

The birth of baby Jesus

The birth of the Child Jesus is something definitely revolutionary, magnificent: The birth of Jesus is the birth of God made man and for this reason it has a lot to do with our lives.

And when we ask ourselves about the meaning of life, the question always appears about God, about whether I have to look for him or not, about whether he exists or not, about what he does, what he says, what he asks of me, what he offers me; I wonder if he is good, he cares about me, he loves me. And to all this the Child Jesus responds overwhelmingly.

The birth of the Child Jesus speaks eloquently that God is not only attentive to each of us, but is even willing to serve us to help us find the meaning of our lives and be happy; He is willing to make himself small, so that we can draw closer to Him.

Definitely when we see the scene of the child being born in the portal of Bethlehem, in a place so poor and with so much material scarcity, one cannot help but wonder about what is truly essential in this life: what does the way of life mean? in which Jesus was born, full of so much poverty and simplicity.

There are many who die for lack of love. Their life is hell because they live in solitude and in the midst of hatred; There are many who believe that they are not important and that their existence has no meaning; others who believe that their value is little, because they measure it by the amount of money they have in their pockets.

However, the Child Jesus tells us strongly: You are very important. I will be born for you!

We need love, to feel protected in the face of our weakness, to understand that our existence is valuable to another. It is a very deep desire in our hearts, eager to live happily for all eternity.

The joy of Christmas

It is in this search for answers that Christmas responds with abundance, bringing a hope that fills us with deep joy and love.

Seeing God made man on the portal of Bethlehem, how can we not say?: It is true that I can get closer to God! God is not the distant one to whom I am indifferent! God loves me and wants me to be well! , Life, which does not explain itself, truly has a meaning!

Knowing that you are loved by God is knowing that your life has such a valuable meaning that nothing can take it away from you , that in the midst of the greatest difficulty your Father God will be with you and will take care of you; It is knowing that you can go to Him when you lack strength and that you can ask Him what to do when you are confused.

Knowing that God loves you means that you can trust that you will always live, and that the things you have done wrong can be forgiven, that you can rest assured that every problem, every difficulty will somehow pass, but the Lord will remain forever and you will be able to exist with Him in a life of deep happiness.

These are answers that bring deep peace to life. Knowing that you are loved by God and letting Him respond to the deepest concerns of your heart and your existence is the deepest joy you could have. This joy will nourish your entire life and give you the strength to walk towards full happiness.

Merry christmas!
