Celebrations for the 53rd Anniversary of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae

On December 8th, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the spiritual family of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae commemorated its 53rd anniversary with simplicity and gratitude.

This anniversary was an opportunity to renew our trust that God continues to guide our steps. Under the maternal care of Saint Mary, the Immaculate, we celebrated this day with the desire to ‘do whatever He tells us’ (Jn 2:5).

Here is a brief overview of how we celebrated in the various places where we carry out our apostolic mission as a spiritual family.

Celebrations in Spanish-speaking countries

In four cities across Peru, our spiritual family gathered around the celebration of the Eucharist. In Lima, over a thousand people came together at Our Lady of Reconciliation Parish for a solemn Mass presided over by Fr. Gilmer Cacho.Further south, in Chincha, the Eucharist was celebrated at the Chapel of Colegio Santa María, while in Arequipa, Fr. Alberto Ríos led the celebration at Our Lady of Monserrat Parish Meanwhile, in Piura, members of the Christian Life Movement participated in a Mass at the Chapel of Hogar Santa Teresa Jornet and later shared a reception in one of the venue’s halls.

In Chile, the celebration took place at Santa Inés de Huechuraba Parish, with a Mass presided over by Mons. Luis Migone Repetto, Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago. The day also included a reception at Saint Joseph School, where the 25th anniversary of the Sodalitium’s presence in Chile was celebrated.

In Argentina, the chapel of Our Lady or Pilar community was the gathering place for the celebration of the Vigil Mass for the Solemnity. Afterwards, a fraternal meal was held, featuring songs and a recital that brought together members of the spiritual family and people from the parish community.

In Ecuador, the anniversary was commemorated with a Mass at the Chapel of Colegio Santo Domingo celebrated by Fr. Christian Vinces. The night before, members of the Christian Life Movement prayed the Vespers of the Immaculate together.

In Colombia, the spiritual family gathered at Colegio Pureza de María in Bogotá and at Santa Teresita Parish in Cali to celebrate the anniversary with Eucharistic celebrations full of faith and reflection.

Celebrations in Italy, the United States, and Brazil

The Sodalits from the communities of Rome and Nemi, in Italy, celebrated the Eucharist at San Paolo alla Regola Church. Meanwhile, in the United States, St. Agatha-St. James Parish & Newman Center in Philadelphia hosted the celebration. The Mass, presided over by Mons. Efren Esmilla, Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, also included the installation of our brother, Fr. Remigio Morales-Bermúdez, as the new pastor.

Finally, in São Paulo, Brazil, the Mass took place at Sant’Ana Parish, while in Petrópolis, the community gathered at Nossa Senhora do Rosário Church, followed by a fraternal meeting at the Pastoral Center. In Rio de Janeiro, our spiritual family celebrated Mass at the Chapel of the São José Seminary.
