Under the motto ‘Called to Life’ young Catholics meet at Convivio Medellín

From August 30th to September 1st, a new edition of Convivio, the Catholic student congress organized by the Christian Life Movement, was held in Medellín (Colombia) . This year, under the motto “Called to Life,” young people from various schools in the city met to strengthen their encounter with the Lord Jesus.

The call to build life on Christ resonated strongly among the participants. “I didn’t have anything strong to hold on to, I was simply alone because I had decided to build my house away from God,” one young woman confessed.

In addition to the spiritual quest, participants valued the opportunity to connect with other young people in an atmosphere of faith and friendship. Through the activities and liturgy, several of them discovered God as someone close and a source of hope, helping them find direction in their lives.

“With everything we have done, I could see that light of hope at the end, which makes me understand where I want to go and how to get there through God,” said one of the attendees, summing up the feelings of many, who left motivated to continue building their lives based on faith.

During his homily at the final Mass, Fr. Santiago Posada said: “May God give us the grace to be friends of the Lord so that we may leave the Convivio and seek to make many more. Because the Lord did not tell us ‘stay here’, but ‘go into the whole world and announce the good news’. What you have known, what you have seen and lived, what is now part of your history and your heart, share it and give it freely, because you received it freely.”

Finally, in the video summary of this Convivio, one of the participants summed up the impact of this year’s motto: “For me, ‘Called to Life’ means the opportunity to really go beyond and look for meaning in everything I do, that love is what drives my decisions, that the search for happiness does not run out in a society in which it seems to have run out.”
