CLM prepares for the VI Plenary Assembly in Medellin, Colombia
From July 21 to 27th, Medellín, known as the city of eternal spring, will be the setting for a very special event for all members of the Christian Life Movement (CLM): The VI Plenary Assembly. Here we share information about this important event.
“May the Assembly be a moment of encounter with the Lord”
These are the expectations of Alexandre Borges, current General Coordinator of the Christian Life Movement. He also expressed that the assembly members will seek to work “with an ecclesial spirit, of synodality and openness to the motions of the Holy Spirit.”
Alexandre also shared a message for all CLM members, both the participants and all the members of the CLM who will accompany them in their prayers during these days: “May we work together to continue serving the Church from each particular reality in which we find ourselves.”
“The Assembly also marks the end of my time in the coordination. Alberto Posada, as the new General Coordinator, begins his work, as does Fr. Carlos Keen, who will also be part of the General Coordination Council. All of this is an occasion for joy and renewal.”
Prayer campaign
Prior to the Assembly, the MVC has organized a prayer campaign to ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. This campaign includes texts for reflection, a preparation retreat, and a novena to be prayed from July 12th to 20th. We share the links for each language here.

What is the CLM Plenary Assembly?
The Plenary Assembly is a key event held every five years and convened by the General Coordinator of the CLM. At this meeting, the last five years of the movement are evaluated, current challenges are analyzed, the economic situation is reviewed and guidelines for the future are proposed. Representatives from all CLM localities, members of the General Council and some special guests participate.
Since its first edition in Rome in 1999, the Plenary Assembly of the CLM has been a vital space to evaluate, reflect and plan the future of the movement. Successive assemblies have taken place in Lima (2004), Guayaquil (2009), Arequipa (2014) and Aparecida (2020), each with a motto that guides and motivates the participants.
The motto of this assembly, “Always in motion,” comes from Pope Francis’ speech to the participants of the Third World Congress of Ecclesial Movements in 2014. In that message, the Pope invited us not to remain static, but to always be in motion, moving forward with the help of the Holy Spirit.
