ICTYS launches the XX National Nativity Scenes Contest “Christmas is Jesus”
Within the framework of the month of the artisan and the day of the Annunciation Incarnation, the Cultural Theater and Social Institute – ICTYS carried out the official launch of the XX National Nativity Scenes Contest “Christmas is Jesus” 2024 last Monday, March 25th at the facilities of the General Directorate of Crafts of the Vice Ministry of Tourism.
It should be noted that the National Birth Contest that celebrates the tradition and artisanal talent of Peru, has the support and collaboration of important institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru (Mincetur), Perú Artesanías, the Pontificia Universidad Católica of Peru (PUCP) and Casa O’Higgins.
On the other hand, different personalities from the Peruvian craft sector were at the launch, including Rusbel Hernández, director of the Artisanal Development Directorate of the Vice Ministry of Tourism, and Claudio Mendoza, head of Peruvian Popular Arts and Traditions “Luis Repetto Málaga” of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and Casa O’Higgins.
Presence of artisans and artists
Likewise, the event had the pleasant presence of the artisan Faustino Quispe, winner of the XIX National Nativity Scenes Competition in 2023, who shared his experience and talent with those present.
This launch was enlivened by artistic presentations, among which the interpretation of a Lima sailor by Lino Reyes and Rosa Piedra stood out, as well as the participation of the Sarhua artist, Digna Ramos, and the musical group Takillakkta.
To close with a flourish, there was the presence of the illustrious Amautas of Peruvian crafts: Julio Gutiérrez, Sixto Seguil and Bernardino Arce, who shared their vast knowledge and experience with the attendees.
