ICTYS presents “Saint Rose of Lima, flower of Holiness” in the Park of Remembrance, Lurín
As part of the festivities dedicated to Santa Rosa, the Cemetery Park of Remembrance in Lurín hosts the popular art exhibition “Saint Rose of Lima, Flower of Holiness” (Saint Rose of Lima, Flower of Holiness). This exhibition, organized by the Cultural Theater and Social Institute (ICTYS), is open to the public since August 3rd, offering a free cultural experience for all visitors, with hours from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Saint Rose of Lima: An icon of Peruvian culture
The Peruvian saint, who died at the age of 31st in 1617, is recognized as the first flower of holiness of the American continent. Her life, marked by devotion, sacrifice and service to those most in need, has made her a model of Christian life throughout the world. In 1671, she was canonized by Pope Clement X, who also proclaimed her patron saint of America and the Philippines.
Every August 30th, Peru pays homage to Saint Rose of Lima. Her devotion is celebrated in more than 400 districts throughout the country, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI).

The exhibition in Lurín brings together 16 pieces of popular art, created by talented Peruvian artisans. These works, which are part of the collection of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions (MATP) “Luis Repetto Málaga”, were presented for the first time in 2017 and now return to pay tribute to the Peruvian saint.

The opening of the exhibition was attended by Claudio Mendoza, head of MATP; Feriberto Aylas, renowned ceramicist from Ayacucho; Javier Leturia, director of ICTYS; and Damián Pérez, Manager of Talent and Culture of Parque del Recuerdo.
