Continuing with the work of the renewal process of our community, our brothers from the Commission for the revision of the Constitutions participated in their third face-to-face meeting in the Italian town of Nemi, in Rome, from October 3rd to 11th.

Like the previous meetings, we have the accompaniment of Card.  Gianfranco Ghirlanda, SJ, Consultant appointed by the Holy See for the Revision process of our Constitutions, who has offered various insights for a better understanding of our identity and what needs to be included in our Constitutions.

These days of meeting were the occasion of much dialogue, prayer and common work for the brothers of the Commission, who were welcomed by our brothers of the Nemi community.

During this week of work, Card.  Ghirlanda the Research Work of the Commission related to the second part of the Constitutions worked throughout this year.

Likewise, the document with which all the Sodalit communities will be consulted for the revision of the second part of the Constitutions was finalized.  This was presented to Card.  Ghirlanda, who offered his contributions.  Finally, the immediate steps were planned in view of the revision of the third part of our Constitutions.

In addition to the specific work on these documents, these days were a special occasion for meetings.  It is the first time that the face-to-face meeting of the Commission is in a Sodalit community.  This gave the opportunity to share with the brothers of said community.

Additionally, the members of the Commission had the opportunity to share reflections on the person, communion and mission with F. Massimo Serretti, who has accompanied us on various opportunities to deepen training in the Sodalitium.

Our brother Júlio Egrejas, member of the Commission, shares with us that these days “have been of work and a lot of dialogue, after a path of readings and deepening on our part.  We are looking forward to moving forward and serving the community.  We are grateful to God, because the days continued with much peace and many fruits”.

Presided over by our Vicar General, Juan Carlos Boldt, the Commission aims to guide and coordinate the work of revising the current text of our Constitutions, so that they can better express the charism received and be able to have an effective and lasting service to the Church.  All members of the Sodalitium actively participate in this process.

The Constitutions of the Sodalitium are the fundamental code of our Society of Apostolic Life and express its nature, purpose, spirit and character.  They also contain the norms on the government and the discipline of the members, as well as their incorporation and formation.  The Sodalitium received pontifical approval of its Constitutions in 1997.
