“It is possible to say yes to the Lord”
Lima, 10/23/14, (Sodalit News – Peru). On October 22nd, the feast of St. John Paull II, Jaime Martín Gómez Bolaños made his Perpetual Commitments of Full Apostolic Availability in the Sodalitium of Christian Life in a memorable Mass celebrated by Archbishop José Antonio Eguren Anselmi, SCV, Archbishop of Piura.
This Eucharistic celebration was attended by José Ambrozic, Vicar General of the Sodalitium, who on behalf of the Superior General, Alessandro Moroni, accepted the Commitments of Full Availability from Jaime Martín. It was also attended by other members of the Superior Council of the Sodalitium, as well as members of the Marian Community of Reconciliation, the Servants of the Plan of God, the Christian Life Movement and the Sodalit Family, together with family and friends of the newly professed, accompanying Jaime with their prayers and joy.
During the homily, Archbishop Eguren highlighted various difficult moments in the life of John Paul II that revealed his holiness, explaining that “the Lord calls us in difficult times. Indeed, it is in the difficult times when the Lord calls us, and that at these moments that we must have the ability to listen, to respond generously to his call.”
Then directing himself to Jaime Gomez, Archbishop Eguren thanked him for his testimony, for in this way “you teach us that, despite the difficulties, it is possible to say yes to the Lord. It is possible to believe in his promises; it is possible to have a heart generous; it is possible to remain faithful; it is possible to believe in all that He has told us.”
Finally, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Piura invited Gómez Bolaños to live out the means that the Sodalitium of Christian Life and his Sodalit brothers offer, as they will be “for you treasures that you care for and cultivate, because this is the way to exist in Christ and thus guarantee fidelity until the end.”
After Mass, attendees had the opportunity to greet and congratulate the newly perpetually professed for this important step in his vocation. It was a moment to share the joy of responding to God’s plan.
