Our brother and General Director of the Areté Center, Humberto Del Castillo Drago, emphasizes that “F. Jacques Philippe, is a man of God, who preaches Jesus in daily life, developing fundamental themes for contemporary man such as inner freedom , the acceptance of others, the beatitudes, trust in God, spiritual fatherhood, among others, which are part of the integral and hopeful look, that we at Areté share and spread, for this reason we are happy to have him among us soon, by the grace of God”.

Father Jacques Philippe, preparing to arrive in Colombian lands, comments that “from the Gospels it is clear that those who followed Jesus are not the scribes and Pharisees imbued with themselves and their own justice, but rather the little ones, the poor, those who felt how much they needed forgiveness, healing and mercy.  To open ourselves to the grace of Jesus, to welcome him and truly follow in his footsteps, we need a poor heart: to recognize that we cannot save ourselves, but that we need to be saved.  Trust not in our knowledge or strength, but in the mercy of God.  To be free from our pretense of self-sufficiency and accept to depend on the goodness of the Lord in everything, to receive everything from the hand of God”.

F. Jacques Philippe, a native of Lorraine, France, is a member of the Community of the Beatitudes in which he has served as spiritual director in the formation of priests and seminarians of the Community.  In recent years, he has mainly dedicated himself to preaching retreats regularly in France and abroad and has consolidated his main retreat themes in these fourteen books on spirituality: “Inner freedom”, “Nine days to recover the joy of praying” , “Happiness where it is not expected”, “Called to life, Inner peace”, “In the school of the Holy Spirit”, “Prayer, path of love”,” The spiritual paternity of the priest”, “Time to God”, “If you knew about the gift of God”, “Confidence in God”, among others.
