The Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life has elected José David Correa González as the new Superior General for the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae. Correa will serve for a term of 6 years until the community’s next Ordinary General Assembly. The election was carried out during the Sodalitium’s V Ordinary General Assembly being held in Aparecida, Brasil.
José David Correa González was born in Medellin (Colombia) on July 26th, 1969. He is 49 years old. He entered the Sodalitium as an aspirant on September 4th, 1992. He professed his Full Apostolic Availability in the Sodalitium on May 13th, 2000.
Correa went to elementary and highschool in Medellin. Between 1987 and 1992 he studied Accounting in the Universidad de Antioquia located in the city of the same name. He studied Management in the Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja, Ecuador, from 2004 to 2010. He obtained the title of Engineer in Corporate Management in that year. He studied two semesters of Corporate Management in the Universidad Católica Santa María of Arequipa (Peru) in 2012.
He has served, among others, in the following positions: Coordinator of Apostolate for the Christian Life Movement in Arequipa (1997), Supervisor [Encargado] of the sodalit community of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, also in Arequipa between 1998 and 2001, Responsible for the Pastoral Center Señor de los Milagros in Arequipa in 1998, Local Coordinator for the Christian Life Movement in Arequipa between 1999 and 2011m Superior of the sodalit community Inmaculado Corazón de María in Guayaquil (Ecuador) between 2002 and 2013.
Correa González has also been a professor of Humanities and Consultant at the Humane Business School in Guayaquil between 2010 and 2013, Superior of the sodalit community of Nuestra Señora de la Alta Gracia in Ayaviri, Puno (Perú) since 2013. In this city he also served as Secretary General for Cáritas Ayaviri since 2013.
We ask you to please pray for our new Superior General so that the Almighty may shower him with blessing and allow him to serve with fidelity in this important position that has been entrusted to him. In the following days, the members of the Superior Council will be elected. May Mary, Our Holy Mother, help us to be faithful to God’s Plan and to answer with generosity to our apostolic vocation.
