Tradition and devotion: The successful Marian procession at Santa María College

Santa María College lived an exciting tradition that brings together students, teachers, parents and alumni in a special celebration dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The Marian procession, an enthusiastically anticipated annual event, took place on Friday, May 26th at 7 pm, after participating in Holy Mass.

There were more than 200 people in this festivity whose main objective was to strengthen faith and love towards Mother Mary. The students, with their joy and devotion, expressed their affection through songs, dances and the making of beautiful rugs, all framed in an atmosphere of union and prayer, according to Rosa Elena Almeida, in charge of the activities office of Santa María College.

For his part, Luis Javier Barrios, a teacher at the school, expressed his admiration for the commitment and enthusiasm of the students. He mentioned that every member of the educational community, including parents and teachers, got involved in this unique celebration. “Seeing the students carry the Virgin Mary with respect and devotion, accompanied by their classmates and parents, was a wonderful experience that generated a great connection between all those present”, he said.

Carolina Ramírez, as the mother of a class student, experienced this procession in a special way. “They carried the Virgin with reverence, sang beautiful songs, offered an energetic marinera dance together with their mothers, and consecrated themselves to the Virgin Mary in an act of profound dedication”.

Jorge Alarcón, one of the participants, shared his experience: “My participation consisted of taking some photos, carrying the anda and encouraging the ‘boys’. It was a very beautiful experience around our Mother”.

For his part, Juan Pablo Aguado expressed that “ending this month of May accompanying our beloved Mother, the Virgin Mary, was one of the most reconciling experiences I have been able to have in this time. A simple walk, accompanied by people with the same devotion and charisma for Our Mother”.
