We met in Colombia to deepen the example and teachings of Blessed Chaminade

We seek to continually deepen our charism and for this we carry out the II Study Day “Blessed Guillermo José Chaminade”, and learn more about the life, spirituality and apostolate of the blessed, which illuminates our own life and mission.

This day took place in the retirement home of the Esclavas de Cristo Rey, located in Medellin, Colombia, on November 12th, 13th and 14th.  Our brothers from the ‘Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria’ community of said city participated and were attended by other brothers from other communities in Peru and Ecuador.

The topics discussed in this event were:

  •  Apostolic Marian Filial Piety in Chaminade.
  •  The silences in Chaminade.
  •  Marianist pedagogy in Chaminade.
  •  Faith communities in Chaminade.
  •  Discernment in Chaminade and the Marianists.

Each day began with the celebration of Holy Mass and a moment of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.  Then, the study dynamics of the day had a theme prepared by different brothers, a moment of study and personal reflection, sharing in dialogue groups and presentations to the mentioned groups.

“This seminar has been a very rich community experience”, tells us our brother Esteban Trujillo, a participant in the day, who adds that “the most valuable thing is sharing and studying together, enriching ourselves with dialogue and letting ourselves be enlightened by the experiences of Brothers. In Blessed Chaminade we can see some lights on aspects that illuminate our Sodalit charism, such as Marian filial piety or the apostolate in faith communities.  Among other aspects, various things that we live on a daily basis, Blessed Chaminade already raised in his apostolic life and that is why it is good to study it in this context of our history”.
