Getting to know each other better in the light of Christ in Italy

In order to get to know each other better in the light of the Lord Jesus, members of the Christian Life Movement (CLM) in Italy participated in a spiritual retreat, directed by our brothers in that country, from October 28th to November 1st in the town of Mandela, Province of Rome.

In this retreat, the participating emevecistas, accompanied by our brothers and helped by various activities and dynamics, entered into a dynamic of inner silence with the aim of knowing themselves better in the light of Christ, meditating on his Word.  They had different moments of personal meditation, talks, readings, prayer, recitation of the Holy Rosary, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and celebration of Holy Mass.

Likewise, the retreat offered deep personal and group dialogues and spaces to share in an atmosphere of sincere friendship, in the midst of beautiful walks in the surroundings.  This allowed them to get in touch with God and with themselves.

The spiritual itinerary was centered on the Wedding at Cana (Jn 2,1-12).  This passage from the Gospel of John was decisive for understanding the role of Mary in her life, and above all for discovering herself invited by Jesus to a life full of depth, meaning and joy.

As fundamental moments of prayer, in addition to the inevitable spaces for personal meditation, we had: the rosary, the Eucharistic vigil in which they accompanied Jesus to the Sacrament all night and participated in a Holy Mass.

The participants also visited the Almuerzo durante el retiro del MVC Italia para ver con la luz de Cristo and the small lake of San Benito, as well as the San Cosimato Monastery, where the hermitage of San Benito is located, and the place where one of the Eucharistic miracles occurred.

Nicole Chiaretti, CLM member and retreat participant, tells us that she lived “the days of the retreat very intensely. The proposed activities and the place I was in made my encounter with God more intimate and helped me accept and face the difficulties at this stage of my life.  At every moment of this experience I felt strong emotions, and I felt protected in the silence that surrounded me where I could give space to the voice of my heart.

“This retreat in the context of the Feast of All Saints was a comprehensive educational experience: culture, silence and prayer”, says Giacomo del Gallo, a participant in the retreat.  We were able to enjoy spaces for prayer, catechism and study of the word of God, all enriched with cultural and spiritual visits.  It was a great blessing to visit the hermitages of San Cosimato where a Eucharistic miracle occurred and the monastery of Subiaco, where San Benito lived for three years locked in a cave”.
