Spiritual Retreats in Piura Strengthen the Faith of CLM Couples and Women
During October, the city of Piura (Peru) hosted two spiritual retreats organized by the Christian Life Movement (CLM), aimed at renewing and strengthening the faith of married couples and women. Both events took place at the John Paul II Retreat House.
Couples Strengthen Their Faith and Love
From October 25th to 27th, 24th couples from CLM Piura, along with four invited couples, participated in a retreat aimed at rekindling their marital commitments and strengthening their faith within the community.
Led by five CLM couples who traveled from Lima, the retreat included moments of deep reflection, talks by our brother Renzo Paccini, and the celebration of the Eucharist, presided over by Father Franz Alfaro, a priest from the Archdiocese of Piura.
Alex García and Wendy Peralta, coordinators of Nazaret in CLM Piura, shared that the experience during these days helped them to “have a personal encounter with God, remain in His grace, and renew our love and marital vows.”
Meanwhile, Erick Manrique and Lía García, another participating couple, stated: “The spiritual retreat made us feel supported and discover that only by being guided by God’s hand can we fulfill ourselves in true love.”
With the aim of strengthening their marital life within the community, these couples experienced growth in faith and a renewal of their commitment to apostolic service.
The Women’s Spiritual Retreat: “Beloved Daughters of the Father”
The “Beloved Daughters of the Father” retreat took place from October 18th to 20th, bringing together 29 women from Trujillo and Piura for an experience of personal encounter with God and a rediscovery of their identity as daughters of the Father.
Led by Marigina Bruno, Pili Jarrín, and Daniela Figueroa, CLM members who traveled from Guayaquil, Ecuador, the retreat invited participants to reflect on the encounters of various women with Jesus in the Gospels, such as Mary Magdalene, the Samaritan Woman, and the Virgin Mary.
“It has been a very beautiful experience accompanying our sisters on their journey of faith. We approached this retreat as a service to the Christian Life Movement,” shared Marigina. “We want to share with them what the Lord asks of us and what we believe He has shown us about how He loves us; that is where our identity and dignity lie.”
The program included spaces for prayer, reflection, and dialogue, as well as the celebration of Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, all accompanied by Father Franz Alfaro. The retreat concluded on Sunday with a synthesis exercise, during which participants expressed their gratitude for the experiences and the sense of communion shared throughout the weekend.
