Father Zamorano is a missionary-priest of the Verbum Dei missionary Fraternity. He currently teaches at the Gregorian University, at the Institute of Anthropology, in the field of Safeguarding graduates who develop interdisciplinary and specialized skills in the field of child protection and abuse prevention. He is also a collaborator of the Center for the Protection of Minors CEPROME.

Said training space began with an introduction to the concept of conscience, the importance that it has in the life of each one, and how it constitutes a fundamental piece in the integrity of the person.

There was also an in-depth study of what a correct service of authority should be like in the consecrated life that allows for the formation of adults in the faith. The different ways in which conscientious abuse can manifest itself, the consequences it brings and the signs to take into account within the spiritual accompaniment in order to avoid it were developed.

Finally, F. Luis Alfonso explained some necessary qualities to be a good companion, as well as the importance of personal knowledge to be able to adequately provide this service.

For our brother Juan Carlos Tuppia, General Instructional Assistant, “the training and the recommended readings helped me to enrich the perception of the immense value of the conscience of each human person. From my post of service, I saw myself renewed in the desire to help guard the tabernacle of the interiority of my brothers in initial formation and in spiritual accompaniment”.

On the other hand, Jorge Luna, Regional Superior of the Sodalitium in Peru, said: “It helped me become aware of the importance and delicate work of spiritual accompaniment both in the community, as well as in the spiritual family and the public in general. I think we need to train ourselves and train those people who provide this service very well because it deals with a very personal and sacred sphere of the person, and his relationship with God”.

“I found what F. Luis spoke very interesting, because of his openness and transparency, because of his experience with this topic, from a spiritual and psychological point of view The examples helped a lot to ground the topic and helped to become more aware of the limits to what extent one must accompany; as well as the ways to approach the brothers and other people without invading the personal space of the other”, shared Renzo Pava, Regional Superior of the Sodalitium in Colombia.
