“Your ordination is a path to complete joy”

Diaconate Ordination Mass of Diego Cano in the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae

Santiago de Chile, 08/17/18 (Sodalit News – Chile). On August 15th, the day that the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Virgen Mary, Diego Cano, member of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae was ordained a Deacon.

The Ordination Mass was presided by Monsignor Cristian Rocangliolo Pacheco, Auxiliary Bishop of Santiago, who imposed his hands and led the consecration prayer before Diego, key moments from the Rite of a Deacon’s Ordination in the Church.

This Ordination took place at Madre de los Apostoles Parish where family members, friends and fellow sodalits shared with Diego a major step in his Christian life and vocation. Members of the Christian Life Movement and other associations of the spiritual family were also present.

During his homily Monsignor Roncagliolo told Diego that his Ordinatino marks “a path to complete joy. God chose you for something grand connected to the welcoming of His will, along with preaching, mercy, service and hope. And so today, with Mary you proclaim the greatness of God because he saw you, consecrated you and today sends you as his server.”

Further on, the Auxiliary Bishop invited Diego to maintain high ideals for himself. “When a heart has high ideals there is a capacity to fight, there is a need and disposition to conversion, there is strength to get back up again, there is a capacity for definitive decisions, there is a disposition to swim against the current, there is a contagious joyful conviction, there is a strong determination that mobilizes life towards holiness keeping eternal life on the horizon.”

Finally, Monsignor Rocangliolo thanked the community and the Sodalit Family where the new Deacon was able to discover his vocation while reminding him that “you have been given all the tools necessary to your faith formation and the apostolic flame to be a soldier of Christ. God called you to this (spiritual) family and from it He wants you to make your way to holiness.

After the Eucharistic celebration, the new Deacon expressed that he was thankful for “the overabundance of love and mercy that God has with me and his calling to serve him as a Deacon in the Sodalitium and the Church.”

Diego Cano also thanked his parents particularly for “giving me a Christian education and having supported me in my decision to follow and serve the Lord”. He also expressed his thankfulness for having been “called to serve God as his apostle in the Sodalitium and all my sodalit brothers for their friendship, encouragement, testimony, closeness, charity and prayer.”

Diego Cano is from Medellín, Colombia and belongs to the Sodalitium since 1994. Cano studied Philosophy in the Facultad de Teología Pontificia y Civil de Lima, has a degree in Philosophy and Theology with an emphasis in Sacred Scripture from the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana de Medellín. Cano has dedicated his apostolate to solidarity and the youth in Yumbo, Colombia. Cano has also worked apostolically in the Christian Life Movement in the cities of Lima, Chincha and Callao in Peru. He currently resides in Santiago de Chile where he will be appointed Deacon to Madre de los Apóstoles Parish.
