Medellin, 06/13/18 (Sodalit News – Colombia). In an ambiance of joy and deep prayer, the Deacon Ordination of Juan David Velasquez Monsalve, member of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae took place on June 8th.

Family members, friends and members of the spiritual family from Colombia gathered at Nuestra Señora de Lourdes in Medellin to be with Juan David Velasquez during his Deacon Ordination which was presided by His Excellency Monsignor Noel Londoño Buitrago, Bishop of Jerico and Commissary Apostolic for the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae.

During his homily, the Bishop encouraged the new Deacon to live his service at the table of the Word, the table of the altar and especially he highlighted the importance of living this as a time of special service at the table of the poor.

Monsignor Londoño gave special thanks to the parents of Juan David Velasquez and reminded them that they are the main benefactors of the Church and the community.

After the Eucharistic celebration the attendees had a chance to greet and congratulate the new Deacon on such an important day for his vocation.

Juan David Velasquez, born in Medellin, Colombia, has been a member of the Sodalitium since 2000. He is a lawyer from the Universidad Pontificia Boliviariana and has a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Universidad Boliviariana. Since 2002 he has been working in apostolic projects in his hometown and is currently Headmaster for the Sagrado Corazón Montemayor School.
