MVC Lima: 16 kilometers pilgrimage with María

On Monday, May 1st, the Christian Life Movement (MVC) in the city of Lima began the month of Mary with a crowded Marian pilgrimage that departed from Cieneguilla to the Santísimo Salvador de Pachacamac Church, two districts in the department of Lima – Peru.

It should be noted that in our spiritual family, Our Lady of Reconciliation represents a great example of Christian life that inspires in us the desire to dedicate acts of mercy such as this pilgrimage.

For this occasion, the pilgrims walked carrying the anda of the Virgin, in groups, which included children, young people, women and families. They walked for 16 kilometers, and many of them, between songs and prayers, experienced that our Mother was taking steps next to each one.

“It is beautiful to walk with Maria as a family, to know that we are not alone on this pilgrimage”, shared one of the participants.

Our brother Luis Alfonso Sánchez was carrying the bass drum, playing and singing. He told us about his experience during this walk full of leaps of faith:

“Participating in a Marian pilgrimage is always a reason for joy because I remember that life is like that: a pilgrimage. There are demanding moments, moments in which you experience the support of others, in which you contribute with the gifts that God has given you, in which you experience yourself accompanied by living in communion, perceiving joy, trying to help those who cannot or walk slower

On the other hand, Giovanna de Barrenechea, a pilgrim from Callao, shares that “it has been a beautiful experience as a spiritual family, full of offerings, gratitude and much love for our mother, Saint Mary of Reconciliation”.

Along the way, as in the Christian life, God comes out to meet us to welcome us and give us his forgiveness. Thus, both F. Diego Cano and F. Gilmer Cacho were available to administer the Sacrament of Reconciliation for any traveler who requested it.

For F. Gilmer it was very nice to see the entire spiritual family on this pilgrimage: “those who carried the anda and those who accompanied them praying and singing. It has been a way of continuing on the path of faith but above all entering the school of Mary. Accompanied by her, we have been able to unite and reunite the spiritual family”.

At the end of the tour, our Mother Mary led all her children to the Lord Jesus. In this way, together with Her, all the pilgrims entered the Santísimo Salvador de Pachacamac temple to participate in the Holy Mass.

At the beginning of the homily, our brother, F. Diego Cano, urged that “the path of our Christian life must always be followed together with Mary”. “What a good Mother we have! What a good and loving mother the Lord has given us! let us love her and let ourselves be educated by her, let us learn from her: humility, obedience, purity, her fidelity. And let us support her in her mission by being apostles, being artisans of reconciliation”, he said.
