Sodalit Family present at the III World Congress of Ecclesial Movements

Rome, 11/26/14 (Sodalit News – Italy). From November 20-22, 2014 the III World Congress of Ecclesial Movements took place in Rome. It was attended by members of the Sodalit Family, some of whom were able to share a special encounter with the Holy Father.

To help movements and new communities respond to the call of Pope, who with his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii Gaudium, has clearly opened a new stage of the evangelizing mission of the Church, which is characterized by a renewed impetus and joy.

Thus, the Pontifical Council for the Laity decided to hold the III World Congress of Ecclesial Movements and New Communities, manifesting the joyful adherence of ecclesial movements and new communities to the Pope’s urgent invitation to enter into the “dynamic of missionary outreach.”

On Saturday the 22nd, Alexandre Borges, General Coordinator of the Christian Life Movement, was blessed to greet Pope Francis, who received the participants of the III World Congress of Ecclesial Movements in an audience in Rome. Alexandre greeted him on behalf of all the spiritual family, assuring the Holy Father that its members pray a lot for him, for which the Pope thanked him greatly.

Also present was Alejandra Keen, the Superior General of the Marian Community of Reconciliation, Patricia Jáuregui and Giovanni Intino, of the Sodalitium of Christian Life. Ana Cristina Villa, a Fraterna who is the representative for women in the Pontifical Council for the Laity, also participated in the event fraternal.

The Family Sodalit consists of organization, groups and people who live the Sodalit spirituality, which seeks to encourage a community space of encounter with the Lord Jesus, so that its members may lead an authentic and committed Christian life. It promotes among other aspects the apostolic evangelization of families, an evangelizing service to young people, a commitment to solidarity with the poor, the evangelization of culture and the promotion of life, dignity and rights of the human person.
