The presence of the Sodalit community in Argentina began in 2005 with the invitation of Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio —today Pope Francis—, then Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
Currently, the apostolic initiatives of the Sodalits and the Christian Life Movement (CLM) are carried out in the Province of Buenos Aires within the Diocese of Zárate – Campana and the Diocese of Chascomús. The apostolate with young people and adults, teaching and pastoral work in schools, as well as at the University of Salvador, are some of the most important areas of apostolic service in these places.
Over the years, several solidarity outreach initiatives have been carried out with those most in need. These include pastoral work carried out weekly in a deprived neighborhood, a nursing home and a therapeutic educational center for people with mental disabilities.
The CLM Argentina Mission project is also carried out, which brings together young people from Pilar and the City of Buenos Aires with the aim of collaborating in the pastoral work of the parishes that receive them.
Its objectives are to attend to the apostolic needs of the parish that receives us, to encourage the life of faith in the people by sharing our testimony of Christian life.
During Mission days, missionaries are encouraged to participate daily in mass, to pray in the morning, and we also have “internal mission” activities, that is, apostolate among missionaries. All these activities have the objective of being able to bring the Lord Jesus and his word to the people we are going to do apostolate (to mission).
The people to whom we mission generally belong to areas where their pastors (parish priests) fail to care for them sufficiently spiritually and pastorally.
The activities in which the missionaries meet them are during visits to their homes, in children’s or youth workshops. They are also invited to participate in mass or other liturgical activity or to share faith in friendship.
Within the missionary activities, we also have visits to the hospital or asylum in the area.
Before the “Mission” it is proposed to young people who want to participate as missionaries to participate in preparation meetings called “shootings”. These meetings are instances of faith formation in the mind and heart. And, also in these meetings the “theme of mission” is presented and meditated on. The meetings are also moments of integration for the missionary group and of preparation for the different activities that they want to carry out in the place of the “Mission”.
“Perse MVC” is an initiative that seeks to respond to the desire of young people who are going through the process of preparing for confirmation and who want to persevere on their path of faith within the CLM.
The invitation that is made to them is to participate in a community of faith where they can have the Lord Jesus as the center, where they learn to discover the maternal guidance of Mary and where a dynamic of friendship, prayer and apostolate is lived around them.
The idea is to offer an initial experience of living our spirituality and taking the first steps within an itinerary that helps them live their faith in all areas of their life.
“Perse MVC” lasts two years and seeks to accompany young people in their last year of school and first year of university (from approximately 16 to 18 years old). For this reason, “Perse MVC” seeks to help them face this period full of changes from a perspective that takes into account their Christian life and encourages them to take steps of conversion and holiness.
In addition, it is also of great help for those who were catechists and want to continue their apostolic commitment. By thinking about this broader platform, we seek to continue the experience of apostolic community in which Emevecistas accompany and help each other in the challenge to which they discover that God invites them.
The meetings of the itinerary are planned collaboratively, in an atmosphere of prayer and seeking to capture the different features of our spirituality. In this way, both the apostles and the participants of “Perse MVC” discover themselves part of a community that seeks to live the reconciliation brought by the Lord Jesus.
Volunteering at a nursing home (Hogar Santa Rita)
The non-profit civil association “Hogar Santa Rita” is a geriatric institution in La Lonja – Pilar, which provides medical and social assistance to 150 residents, the vast majority affiliated with PAMI (National Institute of Social Services for Retirees). and Pensioners).
The mission of the CLM Volunteer Project is to serve the people of the Home and share with them the experience of joy and love that Jesus brings us.
The vision of the project is to serve all the grandparents of the Home and accompany them in their life of faith (prayer, sacraments, spiritual activities).

MVC Volunteering at ASANA
ASANA is a non-profit Civil Association founded in 1976 by a group of parents and professionals whose main concern at that time was the future of their children with disabilities when they were no longer around to care for them… with a lot of effort and With the help of many people, they took the first steps, thus creating the Association to Help Isolated Children (ASANA).
The mission of this volunteer project is to accompany the people who are part of ASANA, promoting the integration of each one, respecting their dignity.
The vision of the Project is that people with disabilities can live, developing their potential to the fullest and integrating more into their environment.
We have visits every Saturday, maximum 2 hours each visit. On each visit we seek to have a meeting with all the Asana people who are there that day. Above all, to those who will not be able to meet their families that weekend.
The Sodalit community was entrusted with preparing the Confirmation catechism of the Miraculous Medal quasi-parish, located in the district of Pilar – Province of Buenos Aires. Young people between 15 and 17 years old from various schools in the area participate. The preparation lasts one year and includes two central activities in the preparation, the one-day spiritual journey and the weekend spiritual retreat. After having completed Confirmation, they are offered various areas of perseverance in the Christian Life Movement.
