Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus of Lima, Adriano Tomasi, OFM. with some our brothers at Our Lady of Reconciliation Parish (Lima, Perú).
The Sodalitium Christianae Vitae (SCV) was founded in Peru, with its history and works having a particular scope in this country. It was established in the city of Lima in 1971, and its first apostolic initiatives took place there.
The growth of the Sodalit community, supported by many bishops, led to its first expansion outside Lima in 1984, with a foundation in the city of Arequipa. Subsequent Sodalit communities were established both in Lima and in other cities across the country.
Peru is the first Region of Sodalitium
On February 22nd, 1994, it was established as a Society of Apostolic Life under diocesan law in the Archdiocese of Lima, by Cardinal Augusto Vargas Alzamora. Peru was the first Region established by the Sodalitium on December 16th, 1996 .
The current Regional Superior is Jorge Luna Díaz del Olmo , who has held the position since 2019.

Apostolate of Sodalitium in Peru
The apostolate of the Sodalitium has spread throughout the country through various initiatives and services that are the fruit of the experience of our apostolic accents.
Apostolate with young people
From their beginnings, the Sodalits discovered a particular calling to collaborate in the apostolate with young people. Therefore, this accent of our charism is present in the various areas and projects in which Sodalits are present, such as in universities and colleges, whether teaching, helping in faith services (preparation for the sacraments), or sometimes as chaplains.
A special area of the apostolate with young people is the Christian Life Movement , through groups of perseverance in faith, such as the Marian Groups.
Solidarity apostolate
Most of our solidarity apostolate in Peru is deployed through Solidaridad en Marcha (Solidarity in Motion), with one of the focuses of greatest impact being the educational field in poor sectors . In the city of Arequipa there are three solidarity schools , which serve more than 1,000 students, in areas with limited economic resources.
In turn, through the CLM, the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae provides pastoral and spiritual care to several chapels in needy sectors of the city of Arequipa. We also provide permanent care in one of the most disadvantaged sectors of Lima, in Pamplona, through support with infrastructure needs, offering spiritual accompaniment and volunteering.
On the other hand, we provide comprehensive care to abandoned elderly people , through two homes, where they receive the material and spiritual help they need, we have the San Lucas home in Callao and the San Vicente de Paúl home in Arequipa .
The Bridges project, made up of volunteers who promote personal and community reconciliation through various works , build “bridges” with those who need it most.
On the other hand, through “Bread for my brother” we seek that with each delivery of material bread to people with limited resources who usually work on the streets, they also receive spiritual bread: the Word of God.
Finally, we carry out mission trips with the objective of evangelizing in places where little or no material and spiritual attention is received. Members of the Sodalitium and the Christian Life Movement (CLM) participate in these trips.
Evangelization of culture
The Sodalitium assumes the vast horizon of the evangelization of culture proposed by the Second Vatican Council and the Pontifical Magisterium of recent years. Within this framework, in Peru we seek to contribute through various reflection initiatives in various fields and professional spheres. Also through various basic and higher education projects.
