CLOSING STATEMENT FROM THE VI GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SODALITIUM CHRISTIANAE VITAE

The members of the Sodalitium, gathered from January 6th to January 31st in the city of Aparecida (Brazil), wish to share the following message:

1. During our General Assembly, we were informed that the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, with the specific approval of Pope Francis, had decided to suppress the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae.

2. We, the sodalits, accept this decision with docility, maintaining our trust in Divine Providence. We reaffirm our full obedience to the Holy Father and continue to accompany him with our constant prayers.

3. As an Assembly, we wish to express, with pain and deep remorse, our plea for forgiveness to the victims and all those affected by the various abuses that have occurred throughout our history, for the wounds inflicted, and for all the scandal this has caused.

4. We are grateful for the guidance and accompaniment that the Church has provided us throughout this time, especially through the Pontifical Delegates present at this Assembly, Cardinal Gianfranco Ghirlanda S.J. and Friar Guillermo Rodríguez Rico O.F.M. Likewise, we extend our gratitude to our entire spiritual family, who have supported us with their testimony and prayers.
