On Reparations in the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae

The Sodalitium Christianae Vitae wishes to make the following report public regarding the reparations carried out up until December 2024 for individuals who have been victims of abuse.

With this report, the members of the Sodalitium, feeling deep sorrow and shame for the harm caused to specific individuals and their families, reiterate our request for forgiveness to all those who have suffered because of these actions.

In presenting this, we wish to highlight the following points:

1. In the spirit of justice and reparation for the abuses committed by some members of our community, nearly nine years ago, the SCV established the Listening and Assistance Office in May 2016.

2. This office, directed and staffed by independent professionals experienced in reparation processes, has conducted hearings, investigations, and carried out 83 reparation processes, all of which were resolved through out-of-court agreements.

3. The forms of support provided include financial compensation, payment for therapeutic assistance, and academic support.

4. The reparations made have totaled USD 5,348,000.

5. The harm addressed includes sexual abuse, psychological abuse, physical abuse, abuse or misuse of authority, breaches of internal codes of conduct, among others.

We wish to provide ecclesiastical authorities, our spiritual family, and the general public with accurate information regarding the actions taken by our institution.
