Regarding the meetings with the delegation sent by the Holy Father to Peru

The statement is also available in SPANISH | PORTUGUESE | ITALIAN

In relation to the invitations that some members of the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae have received from the Apostolic Nunciature in Peru to participate in meetings with the delegation of the Holy Father, we want to inform you of the following:

1. We wish to express our most sincere respect and cordial welcome to the people sent to Peru by the Holy Father: Bishop Charles J. Scicluna, (Adjunct Secretary of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith) and Bishop Jordi Bertomeu (Official of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith) to hold meetings with some people to collect detailed information about the Sodalitium Christianae Vitae.

2. We reaffirm our commitment to collaborate fully with the Holy See, as we have always done, maintaining an attitude of dialogue, transparency and sincerity. All members of the Sodalitium who have been summoned to these meetings with the envoys of the Holy Father will participate and collaborate in all the requirements that are requested.

3. The Sodalitium Christianae Vitae is a lay society of apostolic life of pontifical right, and we deeply value the closeness of the Holy Father as he continues to accompany us in the process of renewal that we have been working on for several years together with our 3 delegates appointed by the Holy See, with whom we maintain permanent joint work and provide constant reports on our process:

  • Fray Guillermo Rodríguez, OFM. Since April 2019 he has been ad nutum Delegate of the Sodalitium to advise and support the Superior General and the general government. He was previously appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Sodalitium from January 2018 to January 2019.
  • Cardinal Gianfranco Ghirlanda, SJ. Since April 2019 he was appointed Delegate for formation and since November 2020 he is a Consultant for the Sodalitium’s Constitutions Review process. He was previously appointed Advisor to the V General Assembly of the Sodalitium.
  • Cardinal Joseph William Tobin, C.SS.R. Since January 2019, he has been Delegate to address the economic issues of the Sodalitium. Previously, from May 2016 to January 2019, he was appointed Delegate to accompany and guide the Sodalitium’s government.

4. Our commitment with truth and justice has led us to confront the problems of the past and to continue working for institutional renewal for the benefit of our community and society in general.

5. We ask all members of the Sodalitium and our spiritual family to join in prayer. Let us raise our supplications to the Lord to enlighten and guide those who carry out this special mission, and so that their work is enriching and fruitful in the search for truth and justice.
