The first Sodalit Community in Ecuador began in Santiago de Guayaquil on March 1st, 2002. A few years earlier, in 1996, the Christian Life Movement had been founded in this same city and today has spread to Quito, Cuenca, and other cities in the country.
The Sodalits in Ecuador support the CLM and its affiliated associations by leading Marian groups and Youth Congress like Convivio and Vivencia, as well as helping Bethany, Nazaret and Emaus groups and helping out in other activities that provide formation and spaces of Christian life.
Solidarity projects such as Bread for my Brother, Siloam, the Christmas is Jesus and Box of Love campaigns, etc., with the help of both young people and adults, offer material and spiritual aid to those in need.
In this same line, “Accion Solidaria” organizes projects based on the social teachings of the Church that provide for the integral development of the human person, seeking to provide for people’s material, psychological and spiritual needs.
Another important apostolic project is the “Escuela de Negocios Humane,” an institute which provides Catholic higher education in the areas of marketing and business. Its educational proposal includes the integral formation of the human person by teaching the humanities along with technical and leadership skills. Also, Humane hosts a program that organizes social development projects, collaborating with the local community to carry them out.
